Maryland Day

Alumni & Giving

A Message from Dean Griffin

graduation photo of Kimberly Griffin

This is a picture of me in May of 2001, just after Commencement and receiving my master’s
degree from the UMD College of Education. I was so excited to share this moment with two of
my mentors, Dr. Sharon Fries Britt ’81, Ph.D.’94 and Dr.Jeffrey Milem, and it remains one of my
proudest as an EdTerp.

What a journey it has been from then to now! Little did I realize that I would return to Maryland,
first as a professor and ultimately as the Dean of the College of Education. I wear many hats,
but I am always a proud alumna, and I am grateful for the deep relationships I have formed with
EdTerps over the years.

I invite you to become more involved in our EdTerp community. We have so many things to offer
you and opportunities to reconnect with UMD and the College of Education. You may wish to
attend one of our many alumni social and academic events. You may wish to volunteer or simply
learn more about the amazing accomplishments of our students and faculty. However you wish
to be engaged, we welcome you and look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
Dr. Kimberly A. Griffin, M.A.’01
