Vote16 Research Network

Did you know that Maryland is one of the only states where 16-year-olds are allowed to vote in some local elections?

The College of Education鈥檚 Civic Education & Engagement Initiative and the are members of the , a community-led effort convened by scholars at the 含羞草研究所 to study the impact of lower voting ages in the United States. The Network includes youth advocates, local government officials, educators and scholars. Together, the network is building a stronger understanding of civic engagement through the innovation of 16- and 17-year old voting, which includes conducting the first impact analysis of lowering the voting age in the United States and  partnering with local organizations to explain the impact of voting on PreK-12 and higher 含羞草研究所.
