Graduate Student Organization

Dear College of Education Students, Faculty, and Staff:

Welcome to the 2023-2024 academic year! As this year鈥檚 executive board of the
College of Education鈥檚 Graduate Student Organization (GSO), we are so excited to
begin a new term with you! As we begin the academic year with both new and returning
members of our community, we are working hard to do our part to promote meaningful
connections with peers and colleagues and even transcend the walls of the traditional
classroom or offices, and renew progress in our academic undertakings and research.

For AY 2023-2024, we have three overarching goals: 1) build community among
graduate students, faculty, and staff across all departments in the College of Education;
2) develop relationships with leadership, both well-established and incoming; and 3)
participate in community service as the College of Education, to give back but also learn
from and with members from the larger community around UMD. To realize these goals,
we hope to organize events to highlight the academic achievements of graduate
students, but also to wind down and foster human connections.

We鈥檙e looking forward to our first event of the year, the Annual Welcome Fair, to be
held Friday, September 8th from 3:30-4:30 pm in Benjamin Building鈥檚 Tawes
Lobby. We hope to see you there! We鈥檙e also excited to host a variety of events this
year, including our annual Research Symposium next spring. Please continue to check
our website for more information and resources.
Throughout the year, please connect with us to let us know how we can best meet the
needs of COE graduate students. We are here to support you!
